Have you wanted to learn ASL?

We will be offering a 10-week session on Wednesdays September 13 – November 15 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm taught by Rachel Largey.  At the end of the 10 weeks students can expect to learn how to finger-spell, count, and simply communicate using ASL.   You will receive a certificate stating you have successfully completed the first Sign Language course.

Rachel Largey is an ASL (American Sign Language) interpreter. Growing up a CODA (Child of Deaf Adult) with both of her parents being deaf ASL was Rachel’s first language. In 1977 Rachel began her formal training to become a certified ASL interpreter. Graduating in 1978 from National Technology institute for the Deaf in Rochester New York, Rachel has been interpreting and advocating for the deaf community ever since. As a part of that she has worked for years to not only teach the next generation of interpreters but also to give a voice back to members of her community who didn’t have one.

Fee would be $200.00 for the session that is $10.00/class.

Class size will be limited so don’t miss out.  Registration will begin August 21. Please email tchambers@hopedalecommunityhouse.org to sign up.
